Case study
Eye Care & Research Centre
A website for a not-for-profit eye hospital in Kolkata.

The client
Eye Care & Research Centre is a not-for-profit eye hospital in Kolkata that has been running since 1984. It offers affordable treatment for poor and middle-class families, free care for people who can't pay, and sees patients from across West Bengal, neighbouring states and Bangladesh.
The brief
The centre needed a website that patients and their families could understand quickly, often on a basic phone.
The priorities were simple: explain the treatments, show how to reach the hospital, and let people request an appointment without having to call.
What I built
- A homepage that opens with the hospital's own building and a clear Get a Consultation button
- Treatment sections for cataract, glaucoma, retina, cornea, LASIK and children's eye care
- Information on the specialist clinics: vitreo-retina, squint and amblyopia, laser, ultrasonography and contact lenses
- An appointment request form, with opening hours (Monday to Saturday, 10 am to 4 pm) shown clearly
- An announcement bar for notices like updated charges or new facilities
- Contact details with every phone number, email address and the full street address
Designed for patients, not for a brochure
Many visitors are older, or searching on behalf of a parent. So the text is large, the main buttons are obvious, and the phone numbers can be tapped to call.
Using a photo of the actual hospital building in the hero was deliberate. People recognise it, and it tells them straight away they're in the right place.
